(Thursday, June 21, 1900) — President William McKinley of Ohio was unanimously nominated for a second term as President of the United States today at the 1900 Republican National Convention meeting at Convention Hall in Philadelphia.

Governor Theodore Roosevelt of New York was nominated for vice president by a vote of 925 to 1 abstention, with his vote alone abstaining.

Vice President Garret Hobart had announced in September 1899 that he would not seek re-election, and subsequently died in office on November 21, 1899, leaving the party the task of nominating a new running mate for President McKinley in 1900.

The McKinley-Roosevelt Republican ticket would face the Democratic ticket of William Jennings Bryan-Adlai Stevenson I in the 1900 presidential election.
