(Monday, October 12, 1970; during sessions for Ram) — Paul McCartney began recording sessions for Ram, his second album without The Beatles, today at Columbia’s Studio B at 49 East 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City.

“Another Day” was the first song taped during  the sessions. The basic track consisted of McCartney on acoustic guitar, Dave Spinozza on electric and Denny Seiwell on drums, with many overdubs added in subsequent sessions through January (bass, percussion, lots of other guitar parts).

Another Day,” mixed Feb. 8, 1971, would be released on the A-side of McCartney’s first solo single Feb. 19, 1971, and would not appear on the initial release of the album.

The basic tracks for the album, officially credited to Paul and Linda McCartney (McCartney’s wife), were taped through Nov. 20, 1970, with overdubs and mixing completed by May 1971.
