(Monday, October 26, 1970; during sessions for Ram) — Paul McCartney today recorded “Hey Diddle” at Columbia’s Studio B at 49 East 52nd Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, during sessions for Ram, his second album without The Beatles.

“Hey Diddle” was mixed July 8, 1971, and did not appear on the original release of Ram, but was released as part of a deluxe version of the album in 2012 as the “Dixon Van Winkle Mix.”

Additional overdubs to the track were made July 8, 1974, and mixed that month — this version, titled “Ernie Winfrey Mix,” was released in 2014 as part of a deluxe version of the McCartney/Wings’ album Venus And Mars in 2014.

The basic tracks for the Ram album, officially credited to Paul and Linda McCartney (McCartney’s wife), were taped through Nov. 20, 1970, with overdubs and mixing completed by May 1971.
