(Tuesday, January 29, 1963) — The first charter members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame were named today in Canton, Ohio, including Sammy Baugh, Harold “Red” Grange, George Halas, Don Hutson, Earl “Curly” Lambeau, Bronko Nagurski and Jim Thorpe.

They were enshrined when the Hall opened in September 1963.
