(Saturday, August 20, 1966, 2:45 a.m. EDT) — The Beatles arrived at Lunken Airport in Cincinnati early this morning on the ninth stop of what turned out to be their final tour, having escaped Memphis and the Bible Belt at midnight CDT without bodily injury amid the band’s ‘Jesus’ controversy.

The band would be forced to postpone their concert in Cincinnati later this evening (to noon the following day, Aug. 21 1966) after heavy rain showers left the group vulnerable to electrocution on an unprotected stage.
