(Tuesday, June 23, 1970; during sessions for All Things Must Pass) — George Harrison began recording a second attempt of “What Is Life” and began recording “Beware of Darkness” for his triple-disc album All Things Must Pass, Harrison’s first release as a solo artist following the break-up of The Beatles, today at EMI Studio 3 in London.

Tracking of “What Is Life” was attempted during three different sessions at EMI on June 22, June 23 and July 3, 1970. The eleventh of the June 23 takes would be treated with overdubs during additional sessions for the album, including the horn section (on Aug. 5, 1970 in Studio Three at EMI), which continued through October 1970.
